FDA-approved Silhouette Sutures are thin, flexible sutures that are threaded underneath your skin to rejuvenate sagging foreheads, eyebrows and cheeks. When the threads are gently pulled, tiny absorbable cones and knots lift the sagging tissue into a subtly higher, more youthful position, that reflects the patient’s natural facial contours, giving you a subtle, natural look.
3 weeks post Threadlift
The sutures are then left in place to maintain the effects, which are further enhanced and supported over time, as the body produces natural collagen and elastin fibers around the threads.
Our Austin Silhouette Threadlift takes about an hour under local anesthesia. Silhouette Suture Threads are so small they can’t be seen, even in patients with pale or thin skin. They are made of polypropylene, a non-absorbable material used for years in a variety of surgeries. Mild bruising and swelling may last for up to a week.
Many of our Austin Silhouette Threadlift patients can even drive themselves home from our office after this cosmetic procedure. There are typically no visible scars and the beneficial lifting effects typically last from 3 to 5 years. Many of our patients have already had previous facelifts or brow lifts and now want additional lifting without the trauma of major surgery. Our Silhouette Threadlift in Austin is the ideal lifting procedure for those who do not want or do not need a full surgical facelift.
DO YOU NEED A SILHOUETTE THREADLIFT?
Gravity is always working against us. As we get older, all our skin tissues begin to sag and droop to some degree. How many times have you looked in the mirror and simply pulled up your face and thought how much better you look with that slight lift? Everybody knows that facelift surgical procedures can accomplish this, however, many people also have concerns about general anesthesia, complications, scarring, and falling victim to the dreaded “over done” look.
For people who want a significant lift, but are not ready or do not want to have a full facelift, a Silhouette Threadlift procedure may be perfect for you. Most people tug upwardly on their cheeks when reviewing their image in the mirror. They are often bothered by the lines between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds). Filling these areas is a good idea and will definitely help you look younger. Less filler can often be used and the effects will last longer by combining a filler with a Silhouette Threadlift.
Our Silhouette Threadlift is an in-office procedure that is performed under local anesthesia. It’s safe and effective, providing a lift that is about 60% of what a full facelift could provide. It lasts 3 to 5 years and works by utilizing non-absorbable, specially made sutures that are placed in your face, according to where you need a lift.
Brow, cheek, jowl, and neck lifts are possible. The sutures are placed just under the skin through a small incision made inside the hairline, so no scarring is visible.
The specially designed sutures gently lift the facial tissues and provide a structural matrix to restore fallen tissues and slow the aging process. They also stimulate the formation of new collagen, which further helps the lifting process. There may be some temporary bruising and swelling, as well as a need to be gentle with your face for a few weeks after the procedure.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A THREAD LIFT?
The patient can achieve a tighter, more youthful and rested appearance in a short time, without being put to sleep under general anesthesia, with minimal discomfort and downtime.
WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF A THREAD LIFT?
Some of its potential complications include excessive bruising or swelling, infection and visibility of the threads through the skin. Overall, however, the threads are considered very safe, and can be easily removed should there be complications.
CAN A THREAD LIFT ACHIEVE THE SAME RESULT AS A FACELIFT?
No. Unlike the facelift when the entire skin flap is repositioned and excess skin is removed; in a Thread Lift there no excision of excess skin. Therefore, a Thread Lift is mostly suited for those with minimal facial aging and no redundancy or excess of facial skin.
WHAT ARE CONTOUR THREADS™?
One of the latest forms of this relatively new tool is the “Contour Thread™.” The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved this new form of the barbed thread in 2005. It is the only FDA approved nonabsorbent thread for use in the United States. Contour Threads are non-absorbable and will not dissolve over time.
HOW IS A CONTOUR THREAD ™ LIFT PERFORMED?
Using a thick, hollow needle, the cosmetic surgeon inserts a thread under the patient’s skin, starting near the cheekbone. The other end of the thread is then tied to deeper, firmer internal facial structures. The physician gently tugs on the thread, tightening loose flesh upwards, closer to where it sat when the patient was younger. A Contour Thread Lift can lift sagging cheeks, jowls and balance eyebrows that are asymmetrical.
WHAT ARE THE RESULTS OF A CONTOUR THREAD LIFT?
Results are generally immediate but limited to those with minimal facial aging and redundancy of facial skin. Complications include minor bruising and swelling, and the possibility of threads popping out. Patients are advised to refrain from strenuous activities for several days after the procedure.
WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR A THREAD LIFT?
The best candidates are younger to middle-aged patients whose goals include lifting their brows and diminishing “jowls” and nasolabial folds. In some cases, Thread Lift patients are those who have already had a Face Lift, and who wish to restore some of the benefits of that lift that have lessened with time.
Men and women who have a lot of excess skin, and who want a dramatic transformation should consult our med spa experts to find the best treatments for their needs.
