When treating a tattoo with the Tri-Lase laser system, you can expect reliable, predictable, clinical results with minimal risk of adverse reactions and textural changes to the skin. This laser system selectively targets the pigmentation in the tattoo while preserving the surrounding healthy skin. The skin’s immune system will then start cleansing the fragments of the tattoo pigment from the body. It is important to know that the FDA does not regulate the ingredients of the pigmented dyes that are used by a tattoo artist. Synthetic pigments and colors can widely vary from industrial organics to minerals and even plastic-based compounds. For an example, most black pigments and permanent cosmetic inks contain carbon or iron oxides while the majority of blue pigments will contain copper salts or cobalt oxides. Other inks can contain titanium dioxide or zinc oxide.

How Does Tri-Lase Tattoo Removal Work?

The Tri-Lase has been outfitted with an arsenal of light-based wavelengths that are specifically attracted to tattoo ink. In order to clear the ink from the skin, the laser system creates a collimated light beam which passes through the outer skin layers, targeting only the ink. This light energy from the laser is rapidly absorbed, causing the pigment to fracture into microscopic particles. Over time, the body’s immune system cleanses the particles from the skin causing the tattoo to fade and eventually disappear.

Can Any Type of Tattoo Be Removed From the Skin?

The Tri-Lase laser system contains specific technical advantages for removing a wide variety of tattoos. Your treatment provider will be happy to assess your tattoo(s) and discuss the treatment details with you.

How Many Treatments Will It Take?

Not all body art is created equal. However, most tattoos will require a minimum of 5 removal treatments. Many factors are involved in determining the number of treatments needed.

  • How long has the tattoo existed. Older tattoos are much easier to remove.
  • The dept of ink in the skin can increase the difficulty of tattoo removal.
  • The type and color of ink used can cause great variations in the number of treatments.
  • Was the tattoo created by a professional artist or an amateur? Usually, a professional tattoo will take 3-9 treatments with the sessions spaced 6-8 weeks apart, allowing the body’s immune system to naturally remove the pigment fragments.

What Does the Treatment Process Feel Like?

Most patients report that the treatment sensation for removing a tattoo is similar to getting a tattoo. A topical numbing cream is used to make the procedure more comfortable; however, we also offer a Lidocaine injection, at an additional cost, to make the procedure more tolerable for patients with heightened sensitivity.

How Will I Take Care of My Skin After the Treatment?

An anti-bacterial ointment and ice will need to be applied. If a scab forms, it is vital that the area is never picked or scratched in order to avoid scarring. It is possible that some blistering may occur. For optimal results, follow any post treatment instructions given to you by the Aesthetica Med Spa staff.

How Much Does Tattoo Removal Cost?

Costs will vary depending on the type and size of the tattoo. Laser tattoo removal is priced per square inch.
