These days, a number of popular procedures are performed using PRP. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is a naturally occurring rejuvenating substance that can be produced using the blood in the human body.

How Is PRP Obtained?

In order to make PRP, a small amount of blood has to be drawn from the body and placed in a tube that is sterile. It is then put into a centrifuge and spun around for 10 minutes so that the different components of the blood separate from each other. Through this process, four components are available: platelets, plasma, white blood cells, and red blood cells. The plasma and the platelets are thus available for use in the PRP treatment.

How Do Platelets Help in Rejuvenation of the Skin?

Platelets are those cells in the human blood that help new cells to grow and help tissues heal. Once the PRP is made and injected into certain specific areas of the skin, it has a matrix reaction and promotes the skin to grow new collagen in larger amounts. The increase in collagen regenerates the tissues. This helps to naturally tighten and smooth out the skin, filling in wrinkles and lines on the face.

What Kinds of Skin Issues Can PRP Be Used to Treat?

PRP can be used to successfully treat the following skin problems: • Puffiness and dark circles underneath the eyes • Loose sagging skin and fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, cheeks, and mouth • Dull and uneven skin tone • Rough texture PRP has been used in medicine and dermatology for almost 30 years. Studies have shown that PRP encourages new collagen growth once it is injected into the skin. It can help reverse aging signs and repair sun damage after excessive sun exposure and tanning. PRP is an especially effective treatment because of its autologous nature. Autologous materials are materials gathered from the patient’s own body. The body will not reject them, and there is no risk of an allergic reaction.

PRP vs. Dermal Fillers

PRP acts by stimulating the skin to regrow collagen on its own for complete facial rejuvenation and does not just target one or two areas on the face but the entire face. It targets not just individual wrinkles but plumps up the whole face and provides even skin tone, improved texture, and tightness.

After Your PRP Treatment

Once the PRP treatment has been completed, you will be able to return home. There will typically be a small degree of swelling in the treatment regions. This swelling will be temporary. Because PRP treatments stimulate the production of collagen in the skin tissues, the benefits will be gradual. After a period of around three months, you will be able to see changes in the form of improved skin elasticity, a brighter complexion, smoother skin, and a boost in facial volume.
